Hi, I’m Tamara Carr
I am a licensed graduate professional counselor (LGPC) dedicated to working with clients to support discovering and reauthoring their personal stories when life feels scrambled and out of control. I view difficulties such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and communication issues as symptoms of a root cause.
My Style
My approach centers on a trauma-informed lens while utilizing an eclectic approach drawing from an internal family systems model, narrative therapy, and cognitive behavioral interventions. I am EMDR-trained and utilize EMDR to support the processing of adverse life expereinces.
I believe in not only supporting you with your presenting symptoms but also aiding you in embracing your whole self.
My worldview is centered around acceptance of the whole of a person through a non-judgmental and empathic environment that allows for the free flow of thought and feelings without rejection or criticism. I value a holistic model of treatment that will incorporate the intersections of your identity, spirituality, social satisfaction, and wellness routines.
I may be a good fit for you if you are exploring the intersection of your spiritual/religious beliefs and mental health as you embark on your road of self-connection.
My Story
I first felt drawn to working in the mental health field after seeing so many people in the community struggle with hopelessness, loneliness, and pain from walking through life. I feel drawn to the healing process of people who are weighed down by various struggles and circumstances in life.
